I don’t know how, but yesterday I rememberred that confident answer Shah Rukh Khan gave his Literature teacher in the film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. And I started wondering… Is love really friendship? Or is love really JUST friendship? (I’m not saying it isn’t, I’m just confused)
I’m not falling for anyone (trust me on that one) but I do listen to love songs a lot. And that old feeling comes back- I wish I could fall truly madly deeply in love and sing a few songs for whoever the lucky man will be.
“Khabar Nahi” from Dostana (I also love the other Dostana song “Jaane Kyun”), ”Yeh Tumhari Meri Baatein” and “Tum ho Toh” from ROCK ON! and “Khuda Jaane”- the cheesiest I can ever get. Oh, and not to be forgotten is Plain White T’s “1, 2, 3, 4″. Love Love Love. And I’d love to hear a version of “Hey There Delilah” sung exclusively for me. I’m going crazzzeee.
You know, maybe the “Lucky Man” is not that lucky after all- He has to put up with my singing and my voice. Poor thing.
Haha the common college freshman syndrome… it happens man… you’re leaving home for the first time… excitement, anxiety, relief (that comes from getting into college) and everything… when there’s a mixture of feelings love is bound to be there some where… I feel the same… My play list has come of your songs and more… Khabar Nahin… khudaya khair…
Haan Ji Dosti hi Pyaar hai… no wonder I love you and JJ…

Ah, yes, the endless philosophical inquisition that Shah Rukh Khan often evokes. (We’ve ALL had those days.) Sure, I’d love to talk about what I believe is essentially a casual Freudian-Jungian reference (how cheeky of him!) in that ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ line, but I’m afraid my clumsy prose would fail miserably in laying out the intense dialectic—further heightened by Shah Rukh’s playful intonation (which girl could resist that boyish charm, eh, ladies?)—that can only be appreciated in its masterful conciseness.
=P

@ Jyoti- ke nachaine kura garya taile? “it feels really special to be loved so much” re, ani you don’t believe in the love and friendship “rot” re. Dude, we think of each other when we’re in the deepest trouble- what’s that if it’s not friendship? I don’t care what you say- I know you believe in friendship. You should at least. Ani if you don’t believe in it, kina janne bhayera last ma “love.” lekhis? Maru talai?
- what pleasure do you get out of making fun of my irrational love of Shah Rukh Khan? He’s cute, all right.
@ Sanjog Khan
