What I Want (here and now)

It’s amazing how so many wishes end up unfulfilled. Nearly two years ago, I’d made a wishlist. (http://maichyang.wordpress.com/2007/06/27/endless-wishes/) So many of those wishes can not come true anymore. Here’s the new list of seemingly unimportant stuff I want at the moment, have a look:

  1. I want to sleep. Not the watered-down kind of sleep I get these days, but nice strong sleep. I wish I could postpone waking up for a few days, so that I could wake up with no worries, and no lathargia from the day before.
  2. I want to go on a vacation unmarred by the tensions of getting a scholarship. It doesn’t matter where, the beach, the mountains, the hills, Chitwan, Pokhara, wherever. But one day (ONE DAY) I’ll surely holiday in the Swiss Alps. And ski.
  3. I want to party with a free mind, and dance till I drop.
  4. I want to dress up in white clothes with some red in them (one white sari with a flashy border and aanchal, a dress with a Banarasi sari belt, and a white kurta with a colorful sari and shawl) – I know it sounds like a “so just go and get it!” wish, but I don’t know what I’d do with clothes I won’t wear much.
  5.  I wish I had a scooter (preferably pink) so that I wouldn’t have to ask Sanjog Dai to make trips on his motorcycle to the opposite end of town from where he lives, so that I wouldn’t have to leave home an hour before I had to get anywhere, so that I’s save the tempo and micro and more painful taxi money, and so that I could feel independent.
  6. I wish I had the confidence that so many people my age do, or that I used to have some time back. I wish I could love myself despite the odds, despite unforeseen failures and everything else.
  7. I want to have just one take-your-breath-away moment. I realised a few days ago that for a very very, very very long time there hasn’t been any news that’s made me jump with happiness, or scream, or prance around. The world is too predictable. I wish life had some more excitement.

Un-passionately miserable,
Maichyang

  4. Well, let’s start with Part I, “in our days…” story!

Part One – till 10th grade!

    1. Bhusan Dahal aka ‘Pop midget’ (meant that in a respectful way!) was the only so-called VJ in town. Requesting songs for your pals was the ‘it’ thing. So Sunday Pop was like ‘the only’ thing to look forward to on NTV!

    2. And the so-called foreign channel was ‘DoorDarshan’ and you had to get a big ass Dish-thing to watch ‘jerky’ Desi TV!

    3. Shah Rukh Khan was not ‘King Khan’ , he was just a nice guy doing TV serials like ‘Circus’ and ‘Fauji’.

    4. The only gifts u gave to the opposite sex (girls): Titaura and Cards from Archies. And from the girls… even a simple ‘hello’ on a crumbled piece of paper was enough to make your dil go mmmmmm….!

    5. Video cassette Pasals was ‘in’ and all the kids (boys) knew Hulk Hogan and Andre the giant like they know Beckham and Ronaldo today! and all the Girls were in love with one and only ’skinny’ Salman Khan and his Maine Pyar Kiya natak!

    6. Young folks tried to fall in love telepathically … and it was mostly a one-sided affair. Yes, boys were wild hound dogs and girls were like angels who had taken the vow of silence!

    7. Rules of Dating…. meet @ some place probably Bakery Cafe and stay as far as possible (although you are seated at the same table!) and act like you just met and nothing much going on and no holding hands in public!

    8. Chat was what u got @ them mithai pasals!

    9. Late-night phone calls (and writing love letters) were the standard form of communication between two infatuated souls!

    10. SLC was the biggest thing on Earth. And getting 60% , First Division was enough to be a hero or a hero-ni in your neighborhood!

I think I should devote the next 30 days of Guffadi.blogspot.com for them ‘in our days’ stories…
    Thanks for the suggestion!

    Next time: (On Request!)

    Part Two :After SLC :
    a) Rangeela and the change of (Female!) dress code in KTM b)and why using the internet was like Working for NASA !

  6. Well, Have you ever wished to go movie with someone you’ve never known before. Just log into yahoo chat room and announce that you’re looking for someone to go movie with you and you got someone. Well, my point is this kind of wishes are easy to fulfill and brings quick excitements in life.

  7. Updates:
I want to wander the streets of Kathmandu alone so that I don’t have to talk or communicate, and can just take in the sights and sounds and smells of my home; the city that gave me more than any other place will be able to.
